“The story of ODF Nadia� illustrates how “Nadia�district of West Bengal achieved district wide open defecation free status in short span of one and half years. The film highlights the championship of the former DM of Nadia, Dr. PB Salim, and critical role he played in maximizing peoples’ engagement and commitment to build a movement around sanitation to make ODF a reality in Nadia. Under the aegis of Sabar Shouchagar Mission, the District Administration prioritized poor sanitation and hygiene situation in the district and conceptualized a multi-stakeholder community based strategic approach. The film highlights how this innovative model was executed using four components: planning and resource optimization, social and community mobilization, capacity development & system strengthening and intensive monitoring and surveillance.
