The Before SWITCH brochure explains about the National Switch Day i.e., 25th April 2016 designated to completely withdraw tOPV and replace it by bOPV in both private and public sectors. Only bOPV has to be used after this switch in both routine immunization and polio campaigns. The brochure delineates simple steps to be followed by the medical doctors before and after SWITCH. Before SWITCH o Be aware of National Switch Day o Inform para-medical staff about the SWITCH o Ensure that there is no excess tOPV stock in the clinic because the stock will be wasted as it cannot be used after the SWITCH On and After SWITCH o Stop using tOPV & Start using bOPV. o Ensure to remove the tOPV stock, put the tOPV stock in a package and mark it clearly as biowaste. o Return this excess tOPV stock to the District Health Officer/Chief Medical Officer for disposal. o Check that no tOPV stock is remaining.
