Social and Behaviour Change Interventions for Promoting Antenatal Care and Institutional Delivery

Social and Behaviour Change Interventions for Promoting Antenatal Care and Institutional Delivery

The policy brief presents the key findings and recommendations of an evidence review conducted by Population Council in partnership with UNICEF and USAID to identify key social and behaviour change (SBC) communication interventions for promoting antenatal care and institutional delivery. The review shows that behavioural economics schemes have been widely successful in India, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh; men's involvement has led to adoption of healthy behaviours and integration of different channels and interventions at all levels - individual, community and health system - leads to successful SBC outcomes among others.
