Social and Behaviour Change Interventions for Promoting Early and Exclusive Breastfeeding
The policy brief presents the key highlights of an evidence review conducted by Population Council, USAID and UNICEF on social and behaviour change (SBC) strategies to promote early and exclusive breastfeeding. Important interventions identified by the evidence review include building capacity of government community health workers; implementing community based initiatives through government systems; timely counselling to promote breastfeeding practices during the antenatal and postnatal period; supportive supervision of community health workers and formation of mother support groups and employing breastfeeding counsellors.
