Important interventions identified by the evidence review include building capacity of government community health workers; implementing community based initiatives through government systems; timely counselling to promote breastfeeding practices during the antenatal and postnatal period; supportive supervision of community health workers and formation of mother support groups and employing breastfeeding counsellors.
